HOK Intern Project: Interco Plaza
Project Objective: In an effort to revitalize the city of St. Louis and bring in more people, the interns and I were tasked with a local project to redesign a plaza in the city. The existing plaza lacks purpose and greenery while offering no additional value to the city. Located adjacent to a non-profit organization and numerous corporate offices, we had to find a solution that to was universal and serves the needs of everyone.

Project Concept: Through the redesign we will transform the existing space that lacks purpose and greenery, into a multifunctional, vibrant gathering space. To assist the adjacent non-profit organization a community garden and public restroom will be located on the site. The use trees and shading structures will give people a cool place to sit while reducing the urban heat island effect. Overall, the redesign will bring purpose and vibrancy back to the city.
